Laaaaaaaaaazy last day. It may be snowing and deathly cold in Europe (hi, foxe and frankkincense!), but no such luck here. It's bloody hot, and it's only going to get worse, or so I'm led to believe. On the up side (and it's a considerable up side), I won't freeze my arse off at Beach Trip this year. \o/ We went out for Southern Indian style lunch today, which was lovely, and now there is cake, though it is sadly not very nice. Hmm. I ought to toddle off post-office-wards, and get my two-month letter in the mail and a step closer to its recipient. Postal strikes mean that it is unlikely to reach its destination for another couple of weeks, but that just adds to its ridiculous, languid charm. Or: that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D Tags: *om-nom*, faily fail, la! i am a pixie, work

Today I'm going to pick up a gift I've ordered for Mom. I think that'll be the last gift I'll have to wrap. I think she's going to love it. It's a canvas print of this picture of Molly: Molly Paw by ~ canadiankazz on deviantARTI just hope it turns out alright. It's not very cheep, but oh well. It's for my mom and it'll be worth it. Tomorrow I'm getting my yearly hair cut, and then it's Christmas Eve! Funny how it sneaks up on you, huh? I hunted through the internets for a Christmas Meme and found one I liked. Here we go: 1. What is your favorite Christmas carol/song? The Huron Carol. Also Carol of the Bells, though it used to freak me out as a kid. 2. White lights or multicolored? Multicoloured. 3. Do you have a cut tree, live tree or an artificial tree? We always used to have a live tree in Canada, but now we have an artificial one in Australia. 4. Eggnog, mulled cider, or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate. 5. Do you decorate your house with lights? Again we used to in Canada, but not in Australia. 6. Do you write a Christmas letter? Kind of in livejournal. 7. Do you like receiving Christmas letters/photos? Sure. 8. What is your favorite Christmas story/movie? A Christmas Carol, in particular, The Muppet Christmas Carol. I have also fallen in love with Hogfather by Terry Pratchett. It counts as Christmas, right? 9. Have you ever made a gingerbread house? Yeah, in school when I was 9 or 10. 10. Poinsettias or holly? Poinsettias, though we don't have one this year. :( 11. Do you display a nativity scene? Yes, but it's very small and adorable. The baby Jesus is only about 2 cm long. 12. Do you bake Christmas cookies? No... though it's a thing I should try one year. 13. Ham or turkey? We used to have both in Canada, but ham is expensive in Aus, so turkey. 14. In what languages can you wish someone a Merry Christmas (without cheating)? Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noel 15. Do you know all the words to Jingle Bells? I think so... 16. Do you put presents under the tree? Oooooh yes. XD And that's before I add Mom's big gift! 17. How do you eat a candy cane? Licking and sucking... though I haven't had one for years. I got sick after eating one once, and vomiting and such on Christmas Eve isn't fun. 18. What is your biggest holidays pet peeve? Receiving something for Christmas that you already have. 19. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? Putting up the tree and decorating it. 20. What was the best present you ever got for Christmas? Ooooh... lots to list. My camera, my Nintendo DS, the first Harry Potter book, (from an uncle of mine... I hadn't even heard of Harry Potter back then) my remote-controlled Dalek and TARDIS money Box, as well as other Doctor Who stuff... Feel free to take and use in your journals. ^_^ I should get ready to go out and get the stuff I need to get. Random Quote: "Selfishness makes Christmas a burden, love makes it a delight." - Annon. I had a very good weekend. Nick came over on Friday. We watched The Muppet Christmas Carol which is a childhood favourite. Then we went to a party with his old school friends, whom I hadn't met before then. I got on well enough with them, and we found some things to talk about, so over-all, it was fun. Nick was glad that I seemed to be making friends with them too, which is good because if / when we go along to more parties, it's important that everyone has a good time. I spent Saturday at his place, then we went to Aislinn's birthday party / dinner thing. Soooo much Indian food! I don't usually eat Indian food, but what we had was very good, and I was willing to try a few new things that I enjoyed. ^_^ We were also able to catch up with Lisa and Suzy before they go to Japan. Now for other news: I found out this morning that another celeb has died before their time. Brittany Murphy who's famous for being in a bunch of movies, but I knew her best as the voice of Gloria in Happy Feet. She had a heart attack and she was only 32. Scary and sad. Ah well... R.I.P. This entry is getting too long, so I shall finish by saying that I hope people don't stress out too much in this last week before Christmas! My neck is burned. Stupid summer sun. Go away, dnw. Spent a lot of money with therathasspoken on Saturday. For the record, we found the store we were looking for! After much trying on and admiring of clothing, and the ensuing indecision, we finally worked out what we were going to buy, bought it, and moseyed to Essendon for Bec's street party. Yesterday I went to the Belgian Beer Garden for drinks with old acquaintances from uni. Jem was there, so I had somebody to cling to. I decided to walk home via Albert Park Lake, and stopped along the way at my favourite cafe for refuelling. :D ♥ This band, you guys. Take the first line of the first post from every month in 2009 (not counting memes), and post it. This becomes your year in review.January 1: HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Febuary 4: AUCS camp was pretty good. We're still working on all those awesome, awesome songs. A bit of a bad mood went around, but other than that it was good. March 1: Tonight is our first AUCS Adelaide Fringe concert! It's very exciting. Below the cut are Youtube videos of the songs we are doing. This isn't the exact concert order. April 1: Well done, Youtube. Your April Fools joke actually made me laugh. May 1: One week down, one more to go before my prac. Just so everyone is aware, I'm going to try to switch my livejournal to friends only reading. We (the teaching students) kinda have to do stuff like this so that the kids we teach don't stalk us on the internet. June 3: I have lots to post about today. ^_^ (I went on to talk about my teaching Prac)July 1: Today is, er... was Canada Day. This is the day I post Canadian videos from Youtube in my lj, and here they are: August 1: I have some news. Dave and I have decided to split up. It's a mutual decision. We're still on really good terms and we're still friends. September 3: Tomorrow I have my Uni supervisor coming to watch me teach the year 9 SOSE class and I hope it goes well. I'm also worried about teacher applications and if I get a job. October 3: I have finally seen the new Disney/Pixar film Up with Nick. Below is a review, and I will try not to give any spoilers. November 2: Today I went to the doctor and it turns out that I have a urinary tract infection. I'm on antibiotics now, so it should clear up in a few days. December 2: This weekend I'm going to put up the Christmas tree. ^__^ Nick is going to come over to help out. I really like this time of year and I love doing the tree. We'll put on Christmas music and it'll be fun. Yup... that's 2009 for me in a nut shell. I got my filling in yesterday. It felt weird with half my mouth numb, and I must have bit my cheek, because it's sore now. -_- I've been feeling lonely lately... but now I have to get ready to go. Random Quote from Bones: Zack: My doctor said most of my injuries didn’t come from the explosion but from being slammed into the floor. [to Booth.] Apparently you’re extremely strong. Brennan: [to Booth.] Did you have to be so rough on him? Booth: It was a bomb. I was being, you know, heroic.
